The Police are now involved and i should hear from them today about where i stand, if its possible to get the tort back we will do whatever it takes to do so!

the guy lives 3doors down from me and i dont see how it could have gotten out of the garden on its own as it has always been a very placid and inactive tortoise except for when it sees food! it was at the bottom of a fenced garden in its pen which it hasnt been able to escape from since we first got her maybe 9 years ago? (lined with concrete blocks about 3 times the hight of the tortoise and i made sure there was no way for it to climb up)and after checking the entire perimeter of the garden the only way it could have got out on its own once it escaped its pen would have been by climbing up a bit of a concrete ramp, then climbing up a step higher than itself and then managing to fit through the small hole beside the gate down the side of the house, only big enough for my cat to get through and not something it could simply crawl through and then would have had to crawl along the pavement and into this guys front garden so we think somebody may have opened the side gate and taken it.

when my dad politely asked him for details of the person he gave it to the man tried closing the door on him! hopefully it was given to somebody local with previous experience of tortoises!
