I have had twin tortoises, and one was 7grms and the other 3grms. The smaller one lasted three months before passing away. The second survived ok.
If the hatchlings are more equal in weight then there is more of a chance they both survive. And possibly I did something wrong so that the smaller one didnt survive. As at the time I had no idea what to do.
If there is two in the egg, then when they hatch, you have to get something (I used dental floss) to tie between the two on the umbilical cords. I soaked the floss in diluted iondine. Then cut the cord between them. Not easy but quite a few twins have been hatched in the last ten years now:0)
