I don't think you need to worry about it then. I would still give it a soak at least every second day if it is hiding away and put a bit of food out even if it doesn't eat it

It is something they do at this time of year...

It is something they do at this time of year (well winter), not all torts but many do and not every year and not always at this time of year, they do similar in the very hot weather.
