Hi Anna, cannot see how RNS can be brought on by Fridge wintering, unless causing some stress related illness. Many have used fridge hibernation for Tort's of all ages, i use dreaded box method...

Some Tortoises take time in accepting other...

Some Tortoises take time in accepting other food's, a couple of pellets offered daily with no other food's for a few day's sometimes sway's them into eating both diet's.

If you rig up a tube heater in a hut or a ceramic heat emitter, on thermostats set at 21c or about's, it will allow your tort to stay out most of the year with another addition of a cold frame.

I think it's a bit iffy on some Aloe's. Not all may be Tort edible friendly :-), used to feed some to my Tort's a few years ago, don;t bother now.
Too much will give them the run's for sure.
