Thankyou Danny, very helpful indeed, i agree that they must be Hercegovinensis.
The only thing is their black plastral pigment is patchy and faded like that of T.h. Boettgeri.
What do you think?

I have the same in my 2 Hermanns, they have always breathed heavily. I think it is due to temperature and exercise. Are yours quite active?
It is worth perhaps having them checked once a year...

As well as the anal scute (which is highly indented in a male), the tail is somewhat larger in a male. The plastron (underneath shell) is concave in a male (although not always obvious straight away)...

The first time mine were in the rain they were a bit shocked, but apparently tortoises love the rain so don't hesitate keeping them outside if it is raining, although only 20C or above. :)
