Heat mats are ok but need to be carefully setup, I am using a heat mat mounted on the roof of an enclosure to maintain temps, it is on a habistat to ensure it doesn't get too hot

It's just a dominance thing, they usually work out who is "top dog" without any injuries to each other but monitor them and check them both for damage. 2 years old seems a bit young to be doing...
