Beefy wild terrapin chillin'
I am on vacation, today on morning walk found this turtle, looks ferocious
What a 'cute' hatchling programmed to grow into. There quite a few gators in this river, not a problem for this terrapins! https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/-z...0/DSC_0129.JPG As close as my 200mm lens allowed me. Can you see second one poking out of the water? 8-) https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-6...0/DSC_0131.JPG |
I am such an amateur, here is a better cropped image of the terrapin and his pal underwater.

Great photo!
I wouldn't want to go paddling there though! Crocs and terrapins and goodness knows what else lurking underneath the surface!! |
isnt he huge - dont dip your toe in!

Nice! (and vegetarian). I'm pretty sure(ish) thats a yellow-bellied slider (Trachemys scripta scripta). These are the little ones still sold in pet shops as cute little babies. Very nice picture of what they grow up to be.

Do terrapins bite?

So they are quite aggressive like badgers then territory wise? I've only ever been bitten by a swan before....it bit my thumb when i was chucking bread at em.
