Is this Kalanchoe?Is it edible?
 

Hi! I'm not good with plants so can anyone tell is this "Kalanchoe blossfeldiana"?If so I've read from somewhere it should be edible for tortoise.Can someone confirm that aswell?And finally-if it is edible,can I give flowers and leaves both and should I give occasionally only or more often?Thank you!!

In common with other Crassulaceae (such as the genera Tylecodon, Cotyledon and Adromischus), some Kalanchoe species contain bufadienolide cardiac glycosides[2] which can cause cardiac poisoning, particularly in grazing animals.[3][4] This is a particular problem in the native range of many Kalanchoe species in the Karroo region of South Africa, where the resulting animal disease is known as krimpsiekte (shrinking disease) or as cotyledonosis.[5] Similar poisonings have also occurred in Australia.

The dark green scalloped leaves and large flower clusters of Kalanchoe (Kalanchoe blossfeldiana) make it a welcome, low-maintenance addition to a sunny spot in your home. Its bright red, pink, or yellow flowers bloom for weeks through the winter. Pets may develop vomiting or diarrhea if they sample kalanchoe’s leaves or stems, however.

Kalanchoe is listed on several of my edible landscaping lists and my leopards have eaten the plant completely on many occasions.:shock:

After reading what Linda posted now Im not so sure. I think I had better research a little more

Type from left "Ornamental plants" and roll down until comes "Kalanchoe".It looks similar with my pictures.And it says it's edible.I'm so confused....I have 6 of these in my house and thought if they are edible,I can give to my tort.But now looks it's not such a good idea at all.:(

Sorry.To make this site bit more clear....
1.Click on the tortoise picture on the top.
2.Click on the European Tortoises on the top.
3.And now "Ornamental plants" on the left panel.
4.Roll down until "Kalanchoe"

Kallanchoe appears on some lists as being suitable for tortoises but I would never feed it because of the reasons that were so well covered above. It can easily be harmful. It might not prove to be in every case but personally I think its too risky to feed. I gew some kallanchoes 2 years ago cos I thought it was OK, my torts refused to eat it anyway. Then I found out about the toxins and threw the plants out.
Your photos certainly look like kallanchoe. Schildfutter is a good site but they have a few others on there that I would never feed such as ox-eye daisies.
