hibernation
should my morrocan graeca be hibernated if hes from the coast of casablanca
and he would asvestate--------- i heard before that ones from the coast dont hibernate? |
When did you get him, where from and what is his past history re hibernation?
|
i got him 3 yrs ago- from someone in germany who moved to dublin- who got
him from someone in czeh republic--- i must admit when i got him i knew the very basics- i didnt know that there were sub species.......... the woman told mew he was from tunisia(wrong) and that he didnt hibernate i thought she ment he didnt hibernate because of his RNS and pneumonia......... when that cleared up considerabely i hibernated him but he didnt fall asleep properly......so after 2 weeks i took him out. thye nxt yr he hibernated grand for 3 months then last yr for 5 ........................ but i dont think coastals are ment to hibernate ................ just incase yr wondering he has a licence |
Personally I think your best bet would be to ask Andy Highfield to positively ID him for you as there appears to be a huge grey area here.
|
I think you will find that Andy has ID the tortoise.
|
Well I was not to know that was I? sorry for breathing and all that!
|
ya he was identified............ dont think he is a hibernating one though........ anyone have any
expierence with non hibernating spur thigheds....... id imagine they d have the same care as tunisians??????? wissamum: there are pics of him in ask andy under " where in morocco" :) |
I didn't realise that - thanks for letting me know;)
Shirley from the Jersey sanctuary has some north Africans I think. She is on Tortsmad site and ************** site. She is a very experienced keeper and breeds graeca's but not he north Africans |
