swimming
not sure where to put this thread
:? :? just seen amazing film showing aldabra tort swimmimg on ARKive do other torts swim does anybody have a tort that swims :?: :?: back in a while just off to fill up the paddling pool for the reds    just in case i really am joking |
Well I know med torts dont swim, they drown.
I have seen a leopard in water, not sure if it were swimming or just walking through water. |
Reds and Yellows will happily swim since they'd die in their natural habitat if they couldn't. Whilst they don't exactly make a good job of it, most tortoises will have a crack if the worst should happen but like Sandy says Meds don't often fair too well....

It all depend on what is meant by swimming.
|
good point
the film clip i watched was actually an underwater view of the aldabra tort really swimimng in quite deep water which actually appeared to be the sea or a lagoon it also appeared that the tort was moving its limbs in an intended way not just bobbing along but as the clip was very short one never knows |
Well in a book i recently read about the galapogas torotises the genral therory seems to be that they got to the different islnds by swimming or floating in some manner.
|
yeah i heard that about the aldabra, my leopards swim when i put them in deep water,
|
I remember reading on an american forum that some one had a group of horsfields and they brought a new one and said the new one does not swim is there something wrong with it as it just sinks.
