whats better pellets or dried ?
 

hello i have two beautiful hermanns rocco & peppe. im wondering what would be better as a supplement im lucky enought to live in in area where im always able to get some weeds except for a couple of days a week when i work long shifts. im not that keen on supermarket food i think they proberly have to much chemicals in them.

It's really all down to personnal preference. Some people swear by pelleted diets, others wouldn't touch them with a bargepole

The key with a weed based diet is to offer as wide a variety as possible, just sticking to a couple of different types is not going to give your torts all the nutrients they need :-D

il put up pics of the weeds that are available justnow and see what you think would be best. im also growing some weeds from seeds that bought from the s/w shop. i know that variety is key to maintaining a healthy tort. just unsure of what would be best as i have read so many mixed reviews.

I use pellets as well as salad as well as weeds, I went weed hunting today and got clover sticky bud and clover

do you keep hermanns ziggy if so what pellets do you use ?

I do, I use the komodo ones and in the pic is plantian

The leaves with the lines down them are plantain and there looks like a dandelion leaf on the top. Both of those are fine. Not sure about some of the others.

Feeding as wide a variety of edible weeds and flowers is important. Quite a lot of people feed pellets over the winter months, when weeds are scarce, to try to ensure their tortoise gets the right nutrients. I am also lucky in that I've managed to mix weeds with salad etc over the winter but I have also been feeding komodo pellets (soaked in water) to my older torts once ot twice a week.
