Lighting help
Just wondering what your thoughts are on the use of an arcadia D3 over large tortoise enclosure for two young leopards any help is appreciated thanks

I personally think Arcadia are the best. I use D3 indoors but I suppose it depends on whether wattage, height to provide enough UV for them is sufficient. Temperature guage would give you a guide or IR thermometer (gives surface temp) . CB

Thanks for your reply have heat lamp in there at the moment my other option was to add t5 tube again from Arcadia to spread light down the enclosure but D3 is advertised as one bulb doing everything so maybe I should go down that route?

The issues here are quite obvious.
Yes we have we believe the best MV in the world in terms of quality and output but.... The issues lay with controllability and coverage. MV lamps by definition only have a small footprint, you have a big species. So we need to provide UVB over the whole shell and as part of the light and shade method. For bigger species a product like ZooBar alongside a stat controlled heat source would be cheaper to run potentially but would provide a source of wild are-Created solar energy over a defined area. They certainly look like something I would be interested in in the future my tortoise are only 4 and 6 inches long at the moment so would the arcadia D3 be suitable for the time being? I also have infa red heat lamp of 60 watts in enclosure. Is the arcadia lamp ideal for hanging on the side or would you recommend an overhanging more central bracket? many thanks

Yes of course when small like this :-) the gen 2 100w would be perfect
Yes the ARM160 fitting is perfect for you and comes with a safety grill, clamp assembly and viv adaper for easy fitting John Quote:
