Incubation

We were very excited a few weeks ago when our female Mediterranean spurthigh laid eggs! I had bought an ex demo incubator model Rep pro 90 and I set it up as best I could according to rather poorly translated instructions, on the tortoise auto setting. I was so sad to find all the eggshave cracked ( not hatching!!!) I assume due to incorrect humidity?
We have amazingly just got another chance with another clutch and will set it up manually. We are using vermiculite and can’t find out anywhere how wet/damp it should be? Can any one help please? Urgently!!!! Thank you!!!

The vermiculite needs to be dry, if it’s wet it can crack the eggs. The humidity will be generated by putting a wide dish in the incubator, a wide surface will create more humidity than a small surface. The humidity needs to be around 75%.

The vermiculite is only there to stop the eggs rolling .

You can use it with water added but you need to get it right if to wet then the eggs will cracking.
I use perlite but if you use vermiculite try and get the course one as it let's the air cerculate around the egg.
As long as you have a pot of water or if the incubator has a resivoure for water that's all you need but make sure the humidity is 75%-85%.
