Advice for outdoor enclosure, Tunisian Spur thighed.

Hi there folks, long time no chat...I'm going to make an outdoor enclosure for my two torts. They are very small Tunisian Spur thughed. I'm thinking of edging the enclosure with bricks which will be at soil level because They don't seem to dig into the soil on the inside table, can anyone with knowledge of Spur thighed torts. tell me if this will be enough or do u think they will be able to dig under a brick? ( they are tiny- palm size). Also will I need to heat the outside house for colder days? & will I need to make a lid...I have a lot of magpies in the area, do u think they would go for the torts? They will always be inside over night. P.S. Hi Gordon, 🐢

oooh how sweet! yes brick should be ok they wont bury far if they try anyway. and definitely a wire or equivalent cover. I wouldn't risk it to be honest. I can send you a picky of a crow peck tortoise I adopted while back and he had a horrid rough time, nearly died after being turned over by a crow and pecked both ends and still bears the silicone chip in his shell where the beck went through - you wouldn't wish that on anything - poor thing! Depends what you mean by colder days as UV good on even grey days but you don't want them getting too cold - I always go by rule of thumb below 10 then I would be wary with the smaller ones so best keep an eye and as long as they are secure and dry you should be ok. (make sure none of the area can flood or pool water ). lots of advice will be coming your way ! and pickies a must !!! I am juts about to post some of my teeny ones so might give you ideas (but I wouldn't leave mine out permanently in the photos), CB

Thanks cherry brandy, ive seen some little hutch type things that have been converted with heaters that I'm thinking about getting, wasn't sure whether a cold frame would be enough? I'd always bring them in at night. Can't wait to get it done, at the mo there just loose running round like maniacs every time I take them outside!! They like to keep me on my toes!!!
