Heat and Light
 
HI im making a tortoise table and i would really appreciate some advice


HEATING:if i put this bulb ( http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/e...spot-lamp.html ) into this holder

( http://www.surreypetsupplies.co.uk/t...ro-socket.html )

A) would it fit?
and
B) would it heat up my tortoise?

the strip needs to 10 uv not 6 and the length of your enclosure, don't forget you'll also need a starter unit to get the light to work, again it needs to be for the right lenght light. I don't use spot bulbs for heat so can't help there but I'd say go for a min of 100w and use a reflector to aim the heat down where you want it.

The heat bulb if using seperate UV strip can be a normal domestic reflector spot bulb like B&Q sell. An advantage can be having different wattage for indoor table heating, the bulb wattage can be uped or downed by changing if needed going on the surrounding room temp's, winter could be a 100w.

I use this as the holder for the uv/heat lamp combined mine is a solar glo 125 watt but I am going to change it to a Arcadia next.
