Arcacdia d3

Right so I have been told and read several times that the Arcadia D3 IS the bulb to buy, so where is the best place to buy and what watts do I need? Also are they a universal fit the table came with an Exo Terra holder or will I need to buy a new holder?

I found amazon good but there are other sites available. depends on what you need your set up to be. 100 or 150 seem ok for universal use, E125 for the holder but you can send off a question and the company will respond so make sure bulb fits holder - safey regulations etc. they will recommend usually. usually aim for around 34 degrees but again depends on your tortoise species etc etc. lots of detail on this site so don't be afraid to ask or search. Arcadia is good as in they will replace if goes boom within 12 months but other bulbs and heat emitters available. which are just as robust and last and do the job

I tend to use Swells

Dizzy if your tortoise is on a table then I found that nothing short of the 160 watt was any use. The lower wattage bulbs seem to be intended for being used inside a viv or similar situation. But every set-up is different. If your table is very small then it's possible the 160 watt Arcadia D3 would be too much.

The holder for a lamp like the arcadia d3 combi is an E27 ceramic job.

yes sorry don't know where I got E125 from, a European form for something I suspect.

I think the firm I got mine from packed in/were a bit dodgy in the end but my Arcadia 160w bulbs are still going and producing UVB after several years use

This was one of the reasons why we chose the D3 for it's money over a year or 2 it's worth it compared to the cost of replacements every few months or so of the other 2! :D

Most definitely the best ones I've ever had but do companies want their products to last years which obviously will reduce their profits. They probably need a balance where they are better and last longer than their rivals but not too long so as to affect their profits. A bit like a car tyre manufacturer inventing a tyre that never wears out, it would put them out of business

I purchased an arcadia all in one t5 unit last year cost me £85 its in Zeuses enclosure, but has stopped working a month ago and don't know why, good job I had a spare screw in daylight bulb, I have always had problem with bulbs and fixing from arcadia and won't buy arcadia ever again I'm afraid x
