My new outdoor tortoise house
I've just finished building a new outdoor house for my Hermann Tortoise. It has an Arcadia D3 combi bulb and tube heater for ambient temperature. As its my second effort at building a outdoor house, I learned from my mistakes first time around. One thing is that I built it off the ground as the old one used to get wet on the floor when it rained, in heavy rainfall it would be saturated. I've used the door as a ramp and there is a step up. I've added a removable ramp but she doesn't seem to want to go down the ramp, even this afternoon when it was really sunny. She poked her head out and went back in. Do you think it's too high?

Unfortunately the pic hasn't worked, you will need to post the omg link from a sharing site like photo bucket (and also need more then 5 posts if I remember) but looking forward to seeing it!

KJ sounds fab ! and welcome to the forum I would say with ramps (your picky isn't showing yet) that you may need slats on it so torty can get the grip they need. Once down it they can become scared if not right first time so make sure she doesn't slide or toboggan down it as they have good memories ! CB

I've added slats to that ramp, thanks for the advice. Hopefully she'll come out tomorrow as it's supposed to be warm and sunny.

Looks really smart.

That looks great, wouldn't have thought it would be too steep a ramp...

She's really not keen on the ramp, my daughter had to get her out today then she went in the plant pot when she had enough. Hopefully she'll get used to it.

It looks great. :)
