Betadine
 

As Betadine/Povidone iodine solution is no longer available in the UK I was wondering what everyone else uses now instead?

Tamodine, wound and skin cleanser...made by Vetark.

Mine is Tamodine too!

always remember to use to the strength of weak tea though as using it neat can actually strip the torts bones........scary but true........and also remeber to rinse off well too.

Wendy, the Betadine still available in the uk is ointment or spray so it isn't dilutable. Thank you for your pm though I've pm'd you back.

Evening all, just wanted to check, is Betadine/Tamodine for wounds? Should i have some in reserve?

Hi, yes it is, well at least I know Betadine is anyway. It cleans and kills most bacteria etc. put a small diluted amount on cotton wool and wipe the area. Personally I think it's a good idea to have things like this in hand

I've only needed to use it a couple of times for leg bites (adult male biting another). If you have one tortoise then I'd wait until you need it. Providing it's easy for you to get hold of. (I live in London so I was able to nip round the corner and buy some, the first time I needed it). The bottle lasts ages and ages.

I bought some Tamodine to put in my torty first aid kit just in case. I figured it wouldn't hurt.

Is Pevodine the same thing...as this is what i have?
