Eggs looking fertile???

Do these eggs look fertile? I think my torch is too big and too bright and I wished I had washed the dirt off now, the pictures aren't that clear because it was difficult to hold the egg, the torch and the iPad at the same time, I know I shouldn't have to pick them up but I couldn't get a clear enough picture when they were in the tub, I was very careful to keep them the right way up.

If these pictures are not clear enough I will try and get better pictures tonight

Can't see any veins there Bev, how far on are they?

Catwoman63 20-06-2015 08:56 AM

Hi Alison, they are 14 days now, ill try and get a better picture of them, daylight and nighttime x

I candled my single egg only at night and in a very dark room, with the torch behind. I got reasonable photos, not that I could interpret them very well, but seeing veins and so on became more obvious.
As Esme hatched in the summer, it meant I'd wait until quite late when it was sufficiently dark to candle. Pulling the curtains wasn't enough.

I do so hope that one looks fertile for you, Bev. Fingers firmly crossed here for you.

I've taken some pictures just now in daylight and dark, I do think they are whiter than when I first dug them up as they had a pinky tinge to them

Sorry to say that I don't think they are looking too hopeful, I will compare them to some I have at a similar stage though.

Thanks Alison, looking at other pictures at 14 days I think they are not fertile either, they have gone whiter since digging them up but that might be just what happens to the shell anyway! Shall I keep them in the incubator for another week or two and candle them again next week? X
