Pet mouse
 

I seem to have acquired pet mouse. I opened the torte enclosure the other day and thought I saw something dart across the enclosure, again today I did the same and it was a small mouse that shot inbetween the gap inbetween the two wood skins I have on the outside of the enclosure.


Now what should I do, try to catch it and move it onto somewhere else, or will it live side by side with Terri the torte and do no harm. It concerns me this. what about hibernating time when its hungry will it take a nibble out of the torte MMMMMMMMMmmmmmmmmmm

Mmmmmmmmmmm yes, I probably won't be giving a proper answer Daryn, but I would feed the mouse and in my mind it would not be hungry enough to nibble torts...... But then your torts would be underground....

I love mice, but I wouldn't want to encourage rodents around the torts.

No neither would I, so the feeding would have to be moved to a safe space..... I would make a wood pile.... And place food around it. X x x hugs x x

what a fabulous picture stellanne!! I think it will be fine Daryn. There are loads of mice around and we have voles and they seem ok. some mice only live 12 months - long tail mice s0 we should make that the nicest 12 months ever , CB

Personally I tend not to bother as all my lot go in a fridge because I am prone to flooding but if my lot stayed out in the greenhouse I would leave the mouse where he is but just keep an eye on numbers as mice are like imigrants you see one but there are lots more hiding in the back ground.

I read that at first as you put mice in your fridge, and thought oh no not again. My elderly mum told me her neighbour put dead mice in the fridge for later and let them defrost on the window sill. worried as they were a bit away with the garden variety fairies I investigated and it was (don't look now if like chickens) chicks for their owl, phew cb

Hear it for the mice
 

here are a few I rescued when their mother was killed - 4am milk feeds, held them til breathed warmth into them (thought they were dead but didn't give up ) and released them into next doors garden (only kidding), into a field up the road. I hope they lived long and healthy and did mice type things.. cb
