Picture this.

Like most people I've been growing specific weeds and flowers for my Irwin, but there are also some cool tort friendly plants I encounter on my walk to and from work along the river, but I'm always a bit nervous about what I can actually feed him and always have to triple check.

So if like me, you go on an torty weed hunt but are actually a bit pants at identifying plants I found an app that can help.

There is this thing called 'Picture This' and i found it just in the Google play store on my smart phone.

It's cool, you take a picture of the plant and (I guess it uses the same kinda process as facial recognition??? ) it 'scans' the pic and provides suggestions as to what it is.

If the app doesn't recognise a plant there is a bit where you can basically ask other users what they think.

At the moment I've been using it to identify plants on my walks and then cross referencing the name of the plant on the tortoise table plant ref thing

It's really useful and has been accurate so far!

Dunno if anyone else would find it useful once spring (finally) roles around.

I have just downloaded the app. I'll try it out on 3 unidentified plants, that have recently appeared. Many thanks :)

Hmm not a big fan of technology as I tried this and on four separate occasions I took pics of plants I know and sorry but it was way wrong each time.

I'm keen to give it a go Rambotron.

Can always use combination of methods.

Interesting. Technology is so amazing. My lap top keeps talking to me.

Thank you so much for the tip.

PS. Did you hear someone was driving and pleased to hear - on her satnav - that there were no traffic problems on the M25. She then found out why - the section of the M25 was actually closed!
