Tortoise Table

:-D just a bit of advice for potential tortoise keepers - You do not need to buy expensive shop built tortoise tables for your tortoise to enjoy life -

These are 4 pieces of £6.00 wood screwed together and placed on a tomato grow bag tray £10 for a mega sized one. £4.00 for a square one... think about £5 Scaffold boards cut down to size placed on the base of a mega large £14.00 odd plastic base for a dog crate....what about hard cardboard around seed trays for hatchlings... ..lots of designs you can use onto the material also to bespoke it..draw on the wood, paint it......

don't buy unnatural substrate that the tortoise can swallow and not pass. B&Q ask how they can help ...don't need to buy huge amounts of soil if they are happy to sell you some top soil from a split bag.

UVA&B combined lamps...try the sales.... shop around. they are £44 in the shops...on line you can get them for £20...delivered to your door. Good quality reptile clamps for the bulbs....don't have to pay more than £9.00 - £17.99, or go to the tort shows and pick up a bargain.

Pick weeds, grow weeds, now ! follow Monty Don who is planting out his winter salad....shop bought food can be expensive...and can have ill health affects.

Get a mister, build a hide from your blue peter days !!

ok some of it is heath robinson and you don't have to have the divider (I have it for the naughtiest ) but ...

your tortoise will soon grow and outsize any vivarium (bad idea) and or shop built expensive table and set up. Summer time they should be out getting UV rays where they can...the 4 pieces of wood can double as an area on the grass to roam and use your grow bag tray to grow your tomatoes !

Very good advice, I started small with new wood and gradually made several more as they grew with cut offs. Currently an old wardrobe. All with help though!
