horsfield tortoises
:-D it was a nice day for some sunbathing
https://i.imgur.com/Uyy1912l.jpg the flowers were out https://i.imgur.com/lB5q0b0l.jpg the air was still https://i.imgur.com/nZi8PDgl.jpg delicate petals smiled at us https://i.imgur.com/NjQh9hUl.jpg curtsied under the blue of the cornflower https://i.imgur.com/rHhe0sMl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/z3ZAzXAl.jpg colours brightened the day https://i.imgur.com/xE9rqtXl.jpg and so they disappeared ..... https://i.imgur.com/Wg1HHu8l.jpg away from the heat https://i.imgur.com/TBfMgNDl.jpg to be dug up again ..... https://i.imgur.com/0O7NMcPl.jpg to see the summers day... These are both two year old Horsfields who still sit in the palm of my hand and dig out under a hard wood perimeter fence and under a brick dug down at ground level ! Unluckily for them I know how naughty little Horsfields brains work and have a double layer perimeter so dig away little ones but don't forget to stop and smell the roses !! https://i.imgur.com/6PyT0iol.jpg |
Oh how lovely, Clare. It’s almost poetic with the photos. You ought to start writing Tortoise Tales for children. :-)
Aren’t they little rascals digging down so much, but you’re one step ahead. My lot were all under carex plants, rosemary or in pots this afternoon, but for the past three days, I’ve noticed Isabelle comes out for a solitary stroll while the others are sleeping. She’s quite comical wandering about, eating up any leftovers, nosing about at the females while they snooze. She’s very social and comes running over if she sees me. Funny little torts. I could while hours away just watching. I just need the hours to while away instead of snatched moments checking on them. One day... |
Ah that’s a lovely Clare, just like a story.
Isn’t it nice to see the torts behaving naturally, as they would in the med in these temps. Up early, feeding, then finding some shade for the rest of the day, and snoozing until late afternoon, then feeding again, and wow they are so hungry! |
I just love your photos CB your torts look like they have a green tint to them which I love xx

Thank you !! for nice comments ...yes I love watching tortoises too they are very therapeutic, and yes Suze I cant keep up with them but found this year they seem to like the grapevine leaves so that's good for a bit til the crispy grass and weeds grow !
And that's probably my not so good, I am colour blind camera skills Matt ! Bit more active today....they are right little bruisers aren't they ! :-D:shock: https://i.imgur.com/JpcMKTTl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/x9Qihewl.jpg https://i.imgur.com/G86u4MFl.jpg |

Looks like these two have really grown too! How are your other tinies?
|
Oh gorgeous babies, please can you tell me again which host site you are posting pics from, I must get on with sorting this out.
|
I used imgur Suze (but I'm sketchy as to how I did it!)
