Identification please
 

Hello,

yesterday I bought a turtle, it was supposed to be a Greek turtle (Testudo hermanni), after initial identification on the local group it turned out that it is Testudo graeca, the question is only which genre is it important or winter such reptile or not? I will be grateful for your help in identification

Certainly not a turtle they live in water:0)
Looks to me to be an ibera, sub species of Graecas.
You should have received paperwork with this tortoise, as its illegal to sell them without.
This would have told you the species of your tortoise:0)

Well, the problem is that on the document I have T hermanni so I would not ask;

Hi you have a tortoise not turtle but that depends as to where you are as a lot of people do call tortoises turtles:lol::lol::lol::lol:

As for what it is I would say a very young testudo greaca ibera.:)
And as sandy says it needs paperwork if you paid for it.

I would say the species name on the document is wrong.

By the way, your first 5 posts are moderated then you're ok after that

It sounds like the shop you bought it from are like some of our UK shops, they just take the top certificate for whatever they sell:0( As most shops here have no idea of species, just that they are tortoises, and in some cases dont know the difference between a tortoise or turtle:0(

Agree with sandy and Gordon , it's definitely a tortoise and I agree not hermani but a graeca or some sort.

I would also say, he or she is gorgeous

thanks for the information, but the fact that it is not hermanni I know ;-), I also know that it's only a question of what subgenre of this graeca?

Those who have posted above are saying Ibera.
Problems with the wrong paperwork may arise further down the line if you ever sell it or breed from it. Lots of people say they never will but then circumstances will likely change over the next 75 years or so. It's best if possible to get it sorted out now rather than leave it. I'm not sure how the paperwork ties in with microchipping or if it even does at all but others will know better than me. It may be that you will need correct paperwork for microchipping purposes.
