nettles

ive just read on another thread that nettles as in stinging nettles are posonous

any one advise me please

because my torts just devour them

I'm not sure about this. I know that dead nettles (lamium) are fine for tortoises, but stinging nettles are urtica, and so a different plant. The Schildifutter site, which is really good ( http://www.schildifutter.com/ ) says that stinging nettles (urtica dioica) is fine for tortoises. However, one comment says that "it contains histamines which provokes allergic reactions in humans, but have no effect on the tortosises. Some of the younger tortoises, however, seem sensitive though when having eaten the plants. For them you should pour boiled water over the leaves. "
