Hi There, just wanted to say 'hello'. I'm new to the site - it's great, so much information in one place! I have had my tortoise, Billy, for 42 years. He has lived 'free range' in my parents garden most of this time, but, due to them moving to sheltered accommodation, he's now in his own compound in my garden. Great to meet you all!

Great welcome, thank you!
Billy was a bribe from my parents, if I went to school without making a fuss. (I hated being parted from my Mum!)
I will try to put a photo on...

He's great, isn't he?
He's spent the last 40-odd years wandering round my parents garden, spending winter in a box of straw in the outhouse. Time marched on, my parents became increasingly frail, and moved to sheltered accommodation where you couldn't have pets.....so one dark December day, a sleeping Billy was whizzed 100 miles up the motorway, and carefully sited in my garage. We waited with baited breath, and a few months later, he woke up, and began exploring his new home. He loves his new tortoise house (bit like a mini-dog kennel), mastered the ramp in no time, and seems happy in his garden enclosure. He has successfuly overwintered up here, we are now sure that the 'change of address' didn't affect him too much!
