Do you have a picture. I would take the injured tortoise to a vets.
no would have to go back round my mums again to do that, all i can tell you is the side of the tortoise shell has come of, and the bit above his head on the shell is bleeding.

Could you not bring the tortoise back to your house? I think you should clean the wound up and put the torotises somewhere safe to make sure this doen't happen again. Lets see what someone more experienced thinks.

I think I would be tempted to bring them home to keep a close eye on them. I do think that you should see a vet especially if it is bleeding.
i will go round at getting them after dinner.

No most vets have no clue how to treat a tortoise. Even ones who state they are good at tortoise care are rubbish.

Sadly not, they don't have the specialist knowledge needed for tortoises since in general they're not a popular pet.
ok thanks hopefully i will get a appointment for tomorrow, i have some photos, where shall i post them, he seems to be moving about abit as it pick him up and put him in the middle of the pen and he walk over to the house part.

I would say this needs urgent medical attention

You need to bathe the wound in some sort of anticeptic, or even salt solution, to stop infection
setting in. If would have been worth phoning for advice at Lawson and Stokes in an emergency.
The longer the wait, the more infection can set in.

Oh my gosh have you rang the vets? that tortoise must be in so much pain. I would take all the woodchips away and wash it in salt water as sandy said. I would also keep it on a old towel and keep it nice and warm.

If you have a syringe then flush that wound with salt water to remove the wood chips, and keep on towels as others have said until you can see the vet urgently.

One of my torts, tommy got attacked by a fox, and he is doing great now, his injuries where very similar.
untill you can see a vet, wash the wound with betadine, or iodine, then keep the tortoise on an old towel, or paper towels,
keep the heat up, and keep washing the wound to keep infection from getting in.
The vet will give a baytrill injection (Mine did) and then clean out the wound etc. My vet told me to paint iodine onto the shell to keep it clean.
Chances are the tortoise will survive if you stop infection from setting in.
As a member, wizzasmum, can vouch for (she has been minding him)
it really is awfull to see this, but its great you are there to get them sorted.
fingers crossed.
Josh
The poor little thing...How is he doing today? Keep us updated on his progress...Hopefully he should make a full recovery with the right treatment :)
