Having same problems with new tortoise. It only likes one of my older ones and not the other. Someone has said it might well be a male and they are definitely more terratorial. I just keep the younger one on its own as that's the one causing the problems for the older ones. Are they both the same kind of breed as this is often a problem.

Hi Heather don't no why your older tortoise is being aggressive to your smaller one strange behaviour for such a young animal.
These two are siblings bred by me folks just one is older so quarantine was though to be unnecessary.

They were incubated at 32.f so female is what we are hoping they will be .they are testudu graeca ibera the same as your adult male Tank
Darren
ok thanks darren i always though the were testdu graeca graeca thanks for telling me  hopfully they are both girls its just she is quite agressive like trying to get out of her pen more and rapidly running around! i dont think this is normal for a tortoise of her age

Heather don't no sorry all i can say is this behaviour is usually associated with male behaviour when introduced to a female or other tortoise then the other tortoise is removed he will go mad searching for it, but as yours is only 1yr old i doubt that .
Some one else more experienced may be able to help as i certainly have never seen this in such a young tortoise before.
As said you will have to keep seperate if it continues or the stress will make them both sickly.
Darren
ok my new baby one seems fine and i think that after a couple of days my bigger one will calm down a bit, i was thinking do you think that she just thinks that she's smells of food or somthing and she just is trying too eat her  but it's just the crazy running around thats confusing me!
