shedding

Hi guys me again i was just after some advice on shedding skin my tortoise (yet to be renamed he came with the name tortie) has got lots of old skin that has not left his body i used to keep snakes and know its bad for them if they dont shed properly so i was wondering is it the same for tortoises? If so what can i do about it? All advice gratefully received Nicky

Hi Nicky
Unlike snakes tortoises shed there skin in patches these patches may take a while to fall completely away from the body don't be temped to remove them as they are still attached to the animal and may cause discomfort if pulled away.

Fallen I was wondering the same our Hermanns have had some flaky bits of skin around their neck line and just on the inside shell bit where their heads pop in and out but glad to see it's normal - at least it means they are growing!
